It’s been a while since we chatted about toys, no? Today, allow me to introduce you to Dog-E from WowWee. Dog-E is a smart, app-connected robot dog with life-like movements, audio sensors, and touch sensors on its head, nose, and sides of its body, as well as a POV (persistence of vision) tail that displays icons and messages to communicate.
Once the toy dog is powered on, it goes through a minting process which ultimately reveals its unique colors and characteristics. This process can begin simply by petting its head, touching its nose, or even playing with it. The dog will be able to interact with you in a highly personalized way.
We are excited to announce the launch of MINTiD Dog-E, as we combine cool, cutting-edge tech with social relevance, revolutionizing the toy category for robots once again,” said Sydney Wiseman, VP of Brand Development & Creative Strategy at WowWee. “With Dog-E, we are reimagining robot dogs, thinking about the joy that a kid — or kidult!, will feel when one is ‘MINTiD’ just for them!Source: WowWee Press Release
Each minted Dog-E is promised to be unique for everyone. Through the accompanying companion app, multiple members of the family can mint and save their own individual profiles to a single Dog-E. Each profile could reflect a unique look and personality which could be seamlessly switched via the companion app.
The app can train your Dog-E to learn your name as well as program movements based on how you want to play and interact with it. Similarly, it can “talk with its tail” by displaying emotes, icons, and messages. Essentially the robot will be able to let you know when it’s hungry, seeks affection, or just wants to play.
The Dog-E is available now for pre-order for $79.99 and will be available at retailers and online stores in the US this fall. Pre-order customers will receive a bonus accessory pack of four collars in a variety of exclusive colors.
